If this year felt busy but not always productive, you’re not alone. The way forward isn’t doing more; it’s doing one thing well and actually finishing it.
As the year winds down, it’s natural to look back. Some things moved the needle. Others became evergreen items on a to-do list…not because they weren’t good ideas, but because they never quite made it out of draft mode. Maybe you charged ahead without a clear plan and ended up off course, or maybe you spent months thinking, refining, and rethinking…but never hit “go.” Too much planning, not enough action, or lots of action without a clear plan. Either way, it can feel like spinning your wheels instead of actually going somewhere.
The simple truth is that progress comes from balance. Thinking and doing have to work together. When they don’t, you end up stuck in the past or worrying about what’s next, but not fully present.
As you reflect on the year, there are probably things you’re proud of (congrats!), and things that never got the attention they deserved. That’s okay. The goal isn’t to fix everything at once.
Instead, pick one thing. Wrap it up. Put it into the world. Then move on to the next. Sometimes the best way out of wheel-spinning mode isn’t waiting until you’re ready—it’s choosing to move forward anyway.
